Surviving the Holidays

This morning I found myself browsing a local ‘everything’s free’ page on Facebook. This season, I have been blessed by people loving the herb infused items I make. I thought I would pay it forward with help towards a holiday meal. I have a couple of ideas in mind and remembered all the pleas for help just before Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, right now, no posts such as those were there. I will keep browsing, but what I found was people looking for gifts and decorations. Many of the posts included the words, “With the stress of the holidays…”

‘The stress of the holidays’ really stuck in my head. This is not supposed to be a stressful time. I understand sadness, missing loved ones, family, and/or being alone. I understand stress if you are without a home or a job. But this is stress over decorations and presents.

So many of us are guilty of self-inflicting this stress. Personally, I have stressed myself over buying something nice and needed for extended family who don’t seem to be in the need I thought they were. My own personal want to use the holiday as a time to help them is stressing me out!

So, I am going to take a deep cleansing breath, fire up my diffuser with something holiday and uplifting, and I am going to focus on the things I can control. I am not going to self-inflict ‘holiday stress.’ Instead, I am going to practice holiday cheer. I am going to enjoy the beauty around me, the trees, the lights, the sparkle of ornaments.

I am going to pass the energy of my positive intent into making some of my fabulous products and will share them with others. I am going to fulfill one of my needs, the need to learn, by adding some Five Flower Rescue Blend to lotions and hope the stress free joy reaches others.

I am going to survive the holidays with a heavy heart as I miss my parents and wish I could just give them a hug, but I am not going to self-induce stress anymore. I will survive the holidays!

Holistic Health, what does it mean? How hard is it to do? Does it cost a lot of money? To me, it means taking responsibility for your life and working towards balance. It can be hard, as hard as you make it. Everything costs money, how much is up to you. Sometimes the only cost is time. My dream is to teach how to balance life by encompassing varied areas of holistic health and bring the magic of alternative therapies to others.
