Today I hear of diseases that never existed before. There are diseases that cannot be found with a scientific test, but they still exist. New types of cancers that are different strains of other types of cancer occur so frequently now that they cannot be considered rare and it afflicts people younger and younger all the time.
To say you are a survivor or a family member of a survivor used to be an anomaly. Now it is the norm. Disability plagues so many people these days. Obesity is steadily rising.
All these ailments taking over, and I pick stress. While these things plague so many people, stress plagues everyone. If you have cancer, you have stress. If you are a family member, you have stress. If you suffer a disability, you have stress. And some disabilities are not physical, they are mental…stress. Obesity, there is stress. Could be what got you there, could be trying to overcome it, could be what is keeping you obese. No diagnosis in the medical world, but you live, breathe, exist…you have stress.
Family stress, work stress, money stress, time stress, traffic stress, political stress, world news stress. And if you could be the one person that has all of this under control, unlikely but we’ll go with it, others will share their stress with you, causing stress. And guess what. Stress takes a toll on the body and the body systems, causing disruption and can manifest into physical symptoms. So if you are only treating some physical symptoms, you may be missing the root of the problem, stress.
The upside is that stress can often be managed, not stopped as you cannot change what is happening in the world, but you can manage your reactions to the stressors using non-medication methods. Non-medication methods means no medication side effects.
This is why I concentrate on stress. Stress may often be root of the evil and it is something we can safely work to manage. In holistic and alternative health it is ‘whole body – mind, body, and spirit.’ When we look for what we can ‘take’ in the world of natural medicine or in the Western medical world we are seeking a fast and simple solution. It is so much more than that and we did not get this way overnight and we must take the time and put forth the effort and do the work to even begin to balance our body systems. Anything worth having takes work.
Every day is a new beginning. A time to start strong. And at sometime during the day, stress is going to happen. We must use methods of management to stop the escalation of stress. Not let it stress our body functions.
So when you wake up in the morning, build your strength. Empower your mind, body, and spirit. Take control of YOUR world. It’s going to be a good day 🌈 🌇
